Baksa district is one of the five districts of the Bodoland Territorial Region (BTR), run by the Bodoland Territorial Council (BTC) and the Assam governments. The Baksa district was created (carved out) from the Barpeta, Nalbari and Kamrup districts. Mushalpur town is the headquarters of the district.
