Sahitya Akademi Award 2022 in Bodo Language
Sahitya Akademi declared the prestigious Sahitya Akademi Award 2022 in Bodo language to Rashmi Choudhury for her collection of poems book Sansrini Modira (Poetry). Sansrini Modira in bodo devanagari text सानस्रिनि मदिरा. Sansrini Modira poetry book was published on 2019.

The book was selected based on the recommendation made by a three-member Jury following the rules and procedure laid down for the purpose. According to the procedure, the award was decided based on a majority vote by the Jury. The names of the Jury members on whose recommendations the award is being decided are Sri Birhashgiri Basumatary, Sri Lakshminath Brahma, and Sri Ratneswar Narzary.

Rashmi Choudhury
Bodo poet Rashmi Choudhury was recognized for her poetry collection Sansrini Modira and has been awarded the prestigious Sahitya Akademi 2022 for Bodo language.
Rashmi Choudhury, a well-known Bodo poet is from Baksa district of BTR, Assam was born in 1974. Her poems are well known for their strong feminist themes. Bublini Guthal and Sansrini Modira are two of her Bodo poetry publications. She previously received the Ambedkar Fellowship National Award from the Bharatiya Dalit Sahitya Akademi in 2011.
What is Sahitya Akademi Award?
The Sahitya Akademi Award is a literary honor that the Sahitya Akademi awards annually to a literary work. Apart from the 22 Indian languages included in the 8th Schedule of the Constitution of India, it is provided in a total of 24 languages including Rajasthani and English language. Sahitya Akademi Awards were first given in the year 1955.
What is Received in Sahitya Akademi Award?
In the Sahitya Akademi Award, the winners are given a cash amount of one lakh rupees and a copper plate. At the time of the establishment of the award, the prize money was Rs 5,000, which was increased to Rs 10,000 in the year 1983, and in the year 1988, it was increased to Rs 25,000. After this, from the year 2001, this amount was increased to Rs. 40,000 and after that, in the year 2003, this amount was increased to Rs. 50,000. Then in the year 2009, the government increased the amount of this award from Rs. 50,000 to Rs. 100,000.
Sahitya Akademi Prize for Translation 2022 in Bodo Language
The second type of Sahitya Akademi award to the deserving literates is Sahitya Akademi Prize for Translation 2022.
For 2022, they have accepted 17 books for consideration. Among them, Bodo language was one of them.
For the Bodo language, Raja Devojit Basumatary won the Sahitya Akademi Prize for Translation 2022. He translated the Bengali Novel book ‘Kabuliwalar Bangali Bou‘ into Bodo language and named the book title as ‘Kabuliwalani Bangali Biji‘ in Bodo language.

Prize Money
