Mwihur International Theatre Festival 2023: 13 theatre groups from National and International participated in the 7 days of theatre festivals organized by the Lwrgi theatre group in Kokrajhar concluded on 3 Feb 2023.
For the first time in Bodoland, the theatre group is given a chance to showcase their work to a greater audience through a week-long program organized by the local theatre group of Kokrajahr, Lwrgi Theatre group, with the support of the Department of Cinema and Theatre of the BTR government.
Organizing such a theatre event will surely promote theatre art among our younger generations and also provide a wonderful opportunity for our aspiring Bodo theatre artists.
This 7-day program has been named as the Mwihur International Theatre festival and Bodoland’s first International Theatre festival.
Mwihur International Theatre Festival 2023
The first Mwihur International Theatre Festival started on 28 Jan 2023 was recently concluded yesterday on 3 Feb 2023. The festival was attended by the 13 theatre groups from accross India and 2 International theatre groups.

The theatre play – Thokon in Bodo language was played by the lwrgwi theatre group in the first Mwihur International Theatre Festival.
Jatra-C Acting Studio, Assam
The theatre play – Bithorai Jwhwlao in Bodo language was played by the Jatra-C Acting Studio designed and directed by Jayanta Narzary in the first Mwihur International Theatre Festival.
Okhrang The Sky, Assam
The theatre play – Balabari in Bodo language was played by the Okhrang The Sky designed and directed by M.Okhrang Boro in the first Mwihur International Theatre Festival.
About Lwrgi Theatre Group
Lwrgwi Theatre Group is a Bodo language theatre group established and registered in 2009. They are based in Kokrajhar, BTR, Assam.
Since 2009, they have generally engaged in two types of play – street play and stage play. From their website, you can check out the various street and stage plays they have performed to date.
They also conduct workshops and seminars on the theatre theme and relevant topics.
