Ranji Trophy History
Ranji Trophy Winners List: The Ranji Trophy is a domestic cricket championship in India, named after Colonel H. H. Shri Sir Ranjitsinhji Vibhaji II, the first Indian cricketer in international play. Starting in 1934-35, Mumbai (formerly Bombay) won the first edition and has since dominated with a record 42 titles.
The tournament structure has changed over time, moving from zones to divisions and now follows a round-robin format with 38 teams divided into Elite Groups and one Plate Group.
The latest champions are Mumbai, winning their 42nd title in the 2023-24 season by defeating Vidarbha in the final.
