Asian Kho Kho Championship 2023: Tamulpur of Baksa district, part of BTR in Assam, will host the upcoming 4th Asian Kho Kho Championship 2023. 10 Asian countries will be participating in this four-days mega Kho kho event.
The 4th Asian Kho Kho Championship 2023, for both males and females, will begin from 20 March to 23 March 2023 at the playground of Tamulpur Higher Secondary School, Tamulpur, Assam. Tamulpur is the sub-division of the Baksa district of Bodoland Territorial Region (BTR) in Assam state. It’s a proud moment for Bodoland to host the International sporting event and for India as it will host an International sports event in rural India, setting an example.
The fourth Asian Kho Kho Championship 2023 is being organized by Kho Kho Federation of India (KKFI) and is being hosted by the Assam Kho Kho Association (AKKA) with support from the BTR government. The government of Assam also extended their support for the competition.

The selection of the Indian team is currently going on. The selection and coaching camp will be held at the indoor stadium in Sarusojai Sports Complex from March 14 to 18.
The AKKA president Rajib Prakash Baruah has said, “70 players, including men and women, will participate in the selection and coaching camp in Guwahati. The India team will be announced on March 18, 2023”.

Assam Players List
Two Assam players are on the probable list, Tirtha Deka of Sonapur and Ranjana Sarania of Tamulpur. The AKKA president said that if not two, at least one player from Assam will be included in the Indian team.
Finally, Assam girl Ranjana Sarania has been selected in the 15-member team India which will participate in the fourth Asian Kho Kho Championship slated to begin on Monday in Tamulpur in the Baksa district of Bodoland Territorial Region (BTR). The 18 years old Ranjana hails from Tamulpur.

The matches are played on a league cum knock out basis, with the competing teams divided into four groups.

Preparation of Kho Kho Match Playground
All efforts are being made by the BTR government led by Pramod Boro to create a beautiful environment for sports.
The matches will be held on mats and in a makeshift indoor stadium with a capacity to accommodate around 7000 people has been set up at the venue at Tamulpur Higher Secondary School.
