The 73rd Republic Day Celebration on 26 Jan 2022 was a very special moment for the people residing in the Tamulpur area under the Baksa district because, from this very special day 26 Jan 2022 onwards, they can now officially declare themself as the resident of the newly created district – Tamulpur.
Yes, On the occasion of Republic Day 26 Jan 2022, the Assam Government has officially declared the proposed Tamulpur district as the new district of Assam. Now Administrative district Tamulpur is the 35th district of Assam and 5th of Bodoland Territorial Region (BTR).

In a notification issued by the Governor of Assam, Prof. Jagadish Mukhi via PS of GOA letter No.GAG(B)185.2021/25. it has been stated that
For Administration Expediency, the Governor of Assam is pleased to sanction the formation of a new Administrative District to be known as “Tamulpur” comprising the whole area of the existing Tamulpur Civil Sub-Division of the District of Baksa with its Headquarter at Tamulpur.

1. Tamulpur Medical College & Hospital
Tamulpur medical college location – The proposed Tamulpur medical college location is at Kachubari in Tamulpur district (earlier it was in Baksa district).
Hon’ble Home Minister Amit Shah laid the foundation stone of the Tamulpur medical college in Srimanta Sankardev Kalakhetra on 25 July 2021. Assam CM Himanta Sharma and BTR Chief Pramod Boro were also present at the ceremony.
The preliminary work for the construction of the Tamulpur medical college is underway. The Assam Cabinet meeting held on 2 Feb 2022 has approved 450 crores for the construction of a new Medical College and Hospital in the recently formed new Tamulpur district.

The BTC government of the BTR will run the administration of the Tamulpur district along with the new DC and SP appointed for the new district.

New SP Office Tamulpur – The Tamulpur district police station was inaugurated by the Director General of Police (DGP) of Assam, IPS Bhaskar Jyoti Mahanta on 16 Feb 2022 in presence of BTR chief, Pramod Boro. Also on the same day, a new SP has appointed for the Tamulpur district.
