NorthEast United Football Club (NEUFC) is an Indian football club based in Guwahati, Assam, and competes in the Indian Super League (ISL), the top division of football in India. It is the only club in India’s premier football division that is not owned by a corporation.
NorthEast United FC, under the ownership of Bollywood actor John Abraham, was established on 13 April 2014 as part of the inaugural season of the ISL. The club made history in Indian football, as they became the first team to represent the football-loving region of Northeast India. This region, known as the “Seven Sisters and One Brother,” includes Assam, Nagaland, Manipur, Meghalaya, Arunachal Pradesh, Tripura, Mizoram, and Sikkim.
The NorthEast United FC crest was designed to symbolize the Club’s values, incorporating 8 stars at the top to represent each of the 8 Northeastern states. The colors of the crest are inspired by the prominent colors found in the region – red, black, and white.
