Pwilao Basumatary is an Indian female boxer, born on March 5, 1993. She belongs to the Boro community and grew up in a remote village in Chirang district, Assam, where her family worked as farmers. Her journey in sports began at the Sports Authority of India Special Area Games Centre in Kokrajhar.

Over the years, Pwilao has won numerous medals, representing the Railway Sports Promotion Board (RSPB) and Assam state in National competitions, and India in International competitions.

Her most recent achievement was winning a bronze medal in the 75kg category for women’s boxing at the 37th National Games 2023 held in Goa.
