Railway Manufacturing Industry in BTR
According to the BTR Peace Accord of 2020, the Indian government was required to implement specific industrial developments in the Bodoland Territorial Region (BTR). This included establishing a Railway Coach Factory. You can refer to the agreement PDF on Page 9, Annexure III, Point N.7, which outlines the Railway Coach Factory mandated by the Assam government in the Bodoland Territorial Area Districts (BTAD).
During the Advantage Assam 2 event, the Union Minister of Railways made an exciting announcement for the people of the BTR: a new railway manufacturing industry will be established in BTR, Assam.

The new industry is anticipated to drive economic growth, generate job opportunities, and enhance the overall development of BTR, positioning it as a key player in India’s railway manufacturing sector. There was a proposal to set up a rail coach factory in Assam’s Bodoland Territorial Council. The Indian Railways has three operational rail coach factories. Now, we will have four after it’s completed in BTR.
