First Bodo MP in Lok Sabha
The Lok Sabha commenced in 1952, during that time, Assam had only 10 Parliamentary constituencies (PC). But in the 1967 Lok Sabha Election, the Assam PC increased to 14. Kokrajhar PC with ST reservation was too included in it. The First Lok Sabha Member from the Kokrajhar Parliamentary constituency was Rupnath Brahma from the Indian National Congress (INC) party, but he resigned and in the Kokrajhar PC bye-election 1967 Lok Sabha, Shri Dharanidhor Basumatari became the Lok Sabha Member.
The First Bodo MP in Lok Sabha is Rupnath Brahma, sometimes people also refer to Shri Dharanidhor Basumatari as the first MP in Lok Sabha as he completed the first term of 1967 and was even selected for the second term in the 1971 Lok Sabha general election.

The Kokrajhar Parliamentary Constituency of Lok Sabha is reserved for the Scheduled Tribes (ST) and the Kokrajhar is dominated by Bodo people since the beginning. Now the Kokrajhar town is the headquarters of the BTC administration of the BTR comprising of five districts of Assam, viz Baksa, Chirang, Kokrajhar, Tamulpur, and Udalguri.
Since the start of the Kokrajhar PC Lok Sabha election in 1967, mostly Bodo people have become the Member of Parliament at the Lok Sabha either winning the seat from the Party or as an independent candidate except in the 2014 and 2019 elections, the seat went to non-Bodo – Naba Kumar Sarania (also known as Hira), as an independent candidate.
