There are three upcoming govt model colleges in Bodoland Territorial Region (BTR). Which are the three districts of BTR will get the govt model college? Since Kokrajhar district already has the Kokrajhar govt college, Kokrajhar is excluded from the list. The other three areas of BTC, namely, Chirang, Baksa, and Udalguri, will get the three new model colleges.
What is Model College in Assam?
The Government of India (GOI) has launched a scheme, “Scheme for Financing New Model Colleges in Educationally Backward Districts (EBDs).” Through this EBDs scheme, the state government here, the Govt of Assam (GOA), will be provided financial assistance in constructing the model colleges in the state and running the same. The location of such a model college will be a remote and underdeveloped area where the reach of a good education is rare, and the enrolment ratio is less.
This EBDs scheme aims to provide higher education up to degree courses (UG), i.e., it’s also called model degree college. Though the aim was to offer degree courses, the government plans to introduce post-graduate courses (PG) and skill development courses per the National Educational Policy 2020 (NEP 2022).

The Bodoland or the Bodoland Territorial Region (BTR) is part of the Assam state. BTR has four districts under the BTC jurisdiction. The Assam government has decided to set up three new government model colleges in each district except Kokrajhar.
Why there is No Govt Model college in Kokrajhar?
Why is the Kokrajhar district of BTR ignored while the other three districts are getting the government model college? Kokrajhar is one of the top educational hubs in the entire BTR area. There are many schools, colleges, universities, and ITIs where students can pursue their studies.
