The Assam state film awards were announced on 10 March 2023 for 2018 and 2019. Two Bodo films – Onnai (2018) and Jwlwi – The Seed (2019), won multiple awards in different categories.
It’s a proud moment for the Bodo film industry and BTR people as a whole, as two films from the Bodoland Territorial Region (BTR) have achieved this success and milestone.
अननाय Onnai 2018 Bodo Film
Bodo film ONNAI secured three awards at the Assam state film awards 2023 for 2018. The recipients of the awards are:
- Fwila J Borgoyary – Best Performance in Comic Role
- Mr. Deepak Dey – Best Choreography
- Mrs. Jirina Basumatary – Best Costume Designer
Fwila J Borgoyary
Fwila J Borgoyary is a renowned Bodo comedian artist. Fwila has been awarded the Moazin Ali Award for Best Performance in Comic Role for Assam state film awards 2018.
RB film production house produced the Onnai Boro film in 2018, where the comedian-actor Fwila acted as a comedian. For this, he has won the Best comic role.

Mr Deepak Dey
The second award film Onnai bagged award is for the best choreography. Mr Deepak Dey has won the Gajen Barua Award for Best Choreography for Assam state film awards 2018.
Mrs. Jirina Basumatary
The third award Onnai film bagged award is for the best costume designer. Mrs Jirina Basumatary won the Pradip Chaliha Award for Best Costume Design for Assam state film awards 2018.

Jwlwi – The Seed
The 2019 Bodo film Jwlwi – The Seed has received two awards in the just-announced Assam state film awards 2023. The recipients of the awards are:
- Rajni Basumatary – Special Jury Award for Outstanding Performance
- Jwlwi – The Seed = Best Film in Other Language in Assam
Rajni Basumatary
Rajni Basumatary is an Indian filmmaker and actress best known for her role as Mary Kom’s mother (Mangte Akham Kom) in the 2014 Hindi film Mary Kom. For more details, visit her Wikipedia page here.
Rajni has written, directed and produced the 2019 film Jwlwi – The Seed. She has also acted in the movie. For her performance, Rajni Basumatary has bagged the Special Jury Award for Outstanding Performance for the Assam state film awards 2019.

Jwlwi – The Seed as a movie has won many awards nationally and internationally in the past four years. This time, Jwlwi – The Seed has won the Best Film in Other Language in Assam for Assam state film awards 2019.

Bodo Artists Who Bagged Awards in Non-Bodo Films
Apart from the three Bodo artists who have won awards for Bodo films from the BTR region, other Bodo artists work in non-Bodo films. They, too have won awards; sharing those details below:
- Utkal Hazowari has won Natasurjya Phani Sarma award for Best Actor for Suspended Inspector Bodo film in the special feature film category for the Assam state film awards 2018.
- Bikul Bodo has won Jugal Das Award for Best Art Direction for Kor Pora Koloi film in the special feature film category for the 2018 Assam state film awards.
- Pradim Daimary has won Nalin Dowerah Award for Best Cinematography for Ratnakar film in the special feature film category for the Assam state film awards 2019.
- Benjamin Daimari has won Natasurjya Phani Sarma Award for Best Actor for Jonaki Poruaa film in the special feature film category for the 2019 Assam state films award.
