JEE Main

What is JEE Main? JEE full form Joint Entrance Exam is an entrance exam conducted by National Testing Agency (NTA) to admit candidates (students) to various engineering colleges in India. There are two JEE exams, namely

  1. JEE Main
  2. JEE Advanced

Those who cleared the JEE mains exam can apply to NITs, IIITs, CIFTs, and various other government/private engineering institutes/universities funded/recognized by the State Government in India.

But those who want to study engineering only at IITs need to appear for the JEE Advanced entrance exam. To apply for IIT Jee advanced, you need to clear the JEE (Mains). Jee mains is a kind of eligibility exam for Advanced. After clearing JEE advanced, you can apply to the respective website of IIT; based on merit and counseling, you’ll be selected for IIT admission.

Note:

  • AIEEE full form All India Engineering Entrance Exam. If you are familiar with AIEEE then you may wonder what happened to the AIEEE exam? A few years back, Admission to all the top engineering colleges except IIT was done through the AIEEE entrance exam. There was no JEE (Main) at that time. Now, the AIEEE exam is no more, the same AIEEE is now known as JEE Main.
  • IIT JEE full form Indian Institute of Technology Joint Entrance Exam. If you are familiar with IIT JEE then you may wonder what happened to the IIT JEE exam? Earlier there was no JEE (Main) and JEE (Advanced), there was only IIT JEE. This IIT JEE entrance exam was conducted to admit students to the prestigious IITs in India. Now the same IIT JEE is known as JEE Advanced.

JEE (Main) 2022 Sessions

What are the sessions in JEE main? Many students who are new to this term may get confused. No worry, we’ll clear the session’s clarification here.

Before NTA took charge of conducting the JEE exams in 2019, CBSE was responsible for conducting the JEE exams. During CBSE time, Only one exam for JEE main got organized at National Level, and only one student became the topper of that entrance exam.

But now, with the NTA onboard as the JEE exam conducting body, the sessions were introduced. Now the JEE main is conducted multiple times a year. In 2022 JEE main, there are two sessions – the April session and the May session.

What do two sessions of JEE mains in April and May mean?

Two sessions of JEE main in April and May means that you can appear for JEE main twice, one time in April 2022 (i.e., Session 1), and if you think that you have not performed well in session 1, you can appear again for May 2022 JEE main exam (i.e., Session 2). We assumed that your session 2 exams would be much better than the 1, but in case of session 2 too did go bad, then no worry, there is the rule that only the best percentile score will be taken for rank making from both the sessions.

Why were Sessions in JEE mains introduced?

The main motive behind introducing the session was that – the students who did not perform well in the JEE main exam (Session 1) could prove themselves in the second exam (Session 2). This step of giving another chance to students helps them reduce their exam fear or pressure as if they have not faired well on the first attempt; they can always try their best on the 2nd attempt.

JEE Main Sessions 2022

  • Session 1 Date is of April – May 2022: 21, 24, 25, 29 April and 1, 4 May 2022
  • Session 2 Date is of May 2022: 24, 25, 26, 27, 28, and 29 May 2022

So dear students, always try to attempt both sessions, as it increases the chance of getting a better percentile.
