Super 50 BTR | 50 Students Admission into IITs and NITs

Super 50 for BTR people by BTC government

The BTC government of the BTR region in Assam has formally launched the Super 50 project for the people of the five districts of BTR to admit the engineering aspirants from economically weaker sections into the prestigious IITs and NITs in India.

What is Super-50 Flagship Project?

Super 50 is a flagship project of the BTC government to help students from the BTR region to get admissions into the prestigious IITs and NITs. IIT and NIT are the top engineering colleges in India. Dated 5 Feb 2022, 23 IITs and 31 NITs are spread across India.

Getting admissions into IITs and NITs is tough, but the students can pass the exam with proper preparation. Very few students from the BTR get entries into such top engineering institutes. Most students who got admissions are the ones who took costly tuitions/coaching for the exam preparations. The economically weaker students who couldn’t afford such tuitions/coaching couldn’t crack the exams.

This Super 50 is the most laudable initiative by the BTC chief, Pramod Boro. This initiative would help the economically weaker students prepare for the IITs and NITs, provided they get into the Super 50 program through the selection process. We wish the best of luck to all the IITs and NITs aspirants from the BTR region.

There are five districts in the BTR region, namely Baksa, Chirang, Kokrajhar, Tamulpur, and Udalguri. Ten students from each district will be selected through the Super 50 project selection procedure making the total student count 50.

The selection process will ensure only the EWS deserving students are selected as per the guidelines.

Why was the Super-50 Project in BTR launched?

The BTC CEM, Pramod Boro, said that his council prioritized the education sector to explore human resources.

The launching of Super-50 BTR is a part of exploring meritorious students from poor families.

  1. The objective is to transform the lives of deserving underprivileged students from the marginalized sections of the society of BTR.
  2. To provide a platform and wings to underprivileged engineering aspirants’ dreams and promote a level-playing field in BTR.

Mission and Vision of Super-50 BTR

The mission and vision of Super-50 are in line with the Super-30 of Bihar. If you have not heard of Super 30, watch the Super 30 film by Hritik Roshan, released in 2019.

The main objective of Super 50 of the BTC government is to qualify and admit 50 students, ten students from each of five districts (Kokrajhar, Chirang, Baksa, Udalguri, Tamulpur) of BTR to IITs and NITs each year.

Super 50 Budget/Finance of BTC government

The BTC government will create a separate fund for the Super-50 project.

Super 50 Start Date

Short-listing and selection of candidates will take place by March 2022. The commencement of classes for the first batch of 50 students will start in July 2022.

Super-50 Student Selection Process

  1. Class 12 % and Class 10 Marks – The short-listing criteria for selection in the Super-50 entrance test will be based on results of HS final year (class 12) students with 80 percent (80%) and above and also depend on the marks in the HSLC examination (class 10).
  2. Family Income – The students’ family income should be less than 1.5 lakh per annum. This step will ensure that the students from the well-to-do family don’t get the selection as they can quickly get into any top coaching center using their own money.
  3. Entrance Exam – The BTC government will conduct the super 50 entrance examination in all five districts of BTR.
