The whole BTR has only two medical colleges. The newly constructed medical college in Kokrajhar district will be functional soon as they will take admission of 100 MBBS medical students for their medical study. The other one in Tamulpur of Baksa district is still under construction.

There is only one medical college in the Kokrajhar district. The Kokrajhar medical college still needs to be functional, but they will soon start taking admission of medical students for their newly approved 100 MBBS seats.

The Kokrajhar Medical College and Hospital Kokrajhar, also known as KMCH, is a new medical college that recently National Medical commission (NMC) approved 100 MBBS seats on 14 Feb 2023. The college is not yet functional; we’ll update it here once they release the admission notice for the 100 MBBS seat.

Chirang district of BTR, Assam, has yet to have a single medical college in their district to offer medical degree courses in medical.
Most students of the locality will try to admit themselves to the new Kokrajhar medical college once the admission process starts or at other medical colleges of Assam or outside the state.

There is one upcoming medical college in the Tamulpur sub-division of the Baksa district.

Tamulpur Medical College and Hospital
The Tamulpur medical college is located in the Baksa district of BTR. The Tamulpur medical college and hospital, also known as TMCH, is the 2nd medical college in BTR. It is currently under construction.
Till it’s not inaugurated and functional, the students will opt to study medicine at other medical colleges of Assam or the new Kokrajhar medical college once the admission process starts.
Note: Tamulpur subdivision of Baksa was earlier declared a new district of Assam and was part of the BTR, making it five districts of BTR but temporarily, it has ceased to exist from Jan 2023 for the delimitation purpose once it’s declared as a district again, the Tamulpur medical college will be part of the Tamulpur district, not Baksa.
