The Staff Selection Commission (SSC) has released the SSC CGL 2023 notification pdf. The SSC CGL is an India basis competitive exam for graduate students for different posts of grade B and grade C level posts under central and state government departments.

For the SSC combined graduate level exam 2023, the SSC has notified a total of 36 posts with pay level 4-8, and a total vacancies of 7500.

Educational Qualification

Except for the following four posts, all the other SSC CGL posts have the same educational qualification requirement.

  1. Assistant Audit Officer/Assistant Accounts Officer
  2. Junior Statistical Officer
  3. Statistical Investigator Grade-II
  4. Research Assistant in National Human Rights Commission (NHRC)

All Other Posts:

  1. Bachelor’s Degree from a recognized University or equivalent.
  2. The candidates who have appeared in their final year of their graduation can also
    apply, however they must possess essential qualification on or before the cut-off
    date i.e. 01 Aug 2023.

Assistant Audit Officer/Assistant Accounts Officer:

  1. Essential Qualifications: Bachelor’s Degree from a recognized University
    or Institute.
  2. Desirable Qualifications: Chartered Accountant or Cost & Management
    Accountant or Company Secretary or Masters in Commerce or Masters in
    Business Studies or Master in Business Administration (Finance) or
    Masters in Business Economics.
  3. During the period of probation direct recruits shall have to qualify the
    “Subordinate Audit/ Accounts Service Examination” in respective
    branches for confirmation and regular appointment as Assistant Audit
    Officer/Assistant Accounts Officer.

Junior Statistical Officer:

  1. Bachelor’s Degree in any subject from a recognized University or Institute
    with at least 60% Marks in Mathematics at the 12th standard level;
    Or
    Bachelor’s Degree in any subject with Statistics as one of the subjects at
    degree level.

Statistical Investigator Grade-II:

  1. Bachelor’s Degree in any subject with Statistics as one of the subjects
    from a recognized University or Institute. The candidates must have
    studied Statistics as a subject in all three years or all 6 semesters of
    the graduation course.

Research Assistant in National Human Rights Commission (NHRC):

  1. Essential Qualifications: Bachelor’s Degree from a recognized University
    or Institute.
  2. Desirable Qualifications: Minimum one-year research experience in any recognized university or recognized Research Institution; Degree in Law or Human Rights from a recognized university.

The salary or pay scale of the 36 posts recruitment under the SSC Combined Graduate Level examination are shared below.

Application Fees

The application fee for the 2023 SSC CGL 2023 is Rs. 100 only.

The application fee can be paid online and offline.

  • Online Application fee: The last date and time to pay the online application fee is 4 May 2023 (11 PM).
  • Offline Application fee: For the offline payment, the candidate needs to pay cash through SBI bank challan at the SBI Bank branches by 5 May 2023 provided their challan is readied on 4 May 2023 (till 11 PM).

Women candidates and candidates belonging to Scheduled Castes (SC),
Scheduled Tribes (ST), Persons with Benchmark Disabilities (PwBD) and Exservicemen (ESM) eligible for reservation are exempted from payment of fee.

Selection Process

The selection process of the SSC CGL 2023 will be conducted in two stages. Both the stages will be Computer Based Examination (CBT), named as Tier I and Tier II. The Tier I CBT exam is a qualifying paper. After qualifying for the first Phase or Tier 1, candidates are eligible for appearing in the Tier 2 exam.

Other than the Tier I and Tier II CBT based exam, the SSC has not mentioned any other info. So who passed the Tier II CGL exam in merit basis may get chance of employment.

SSC CGL 2023 Tier 1 Exam Pattern

  • Tier I exam consists of 100 MCQ questions, containing 25 questions from 4 different subjects – Quantitative Aptitude, Reasoning, English, and General Awareness.
  • There will be negative marking for each wrong answer. 1/2 marks will be deducted for each wrong answer.
  • Question language will be in English and Hindi.

SSC CGL 2023 Tier 2 Exam Pattern

In Tier 2 of the SSC CGL examination, three papers will be conducted.

  • Paper 1 is compulsory for all the posts
  • Paper 2 is for the candidates who have applied for Junior Statistical Officer (JSO) and Statistical Investigator Grade-II.
  • Paper 3 is for the posts of Assistant Audit Officer/ Assistant Accounts Officer
  • There will be negative marking of 1 for Paper 1 and 1/2 marks for Paper 2 and Paper 3 each wrong answer.

SSC CGL 2023 Exam Date

The SSC CGL 2023 exam will be conducted in two states, Tier 1 and Tier 2.

The Tier 1 SSC CGL exam will be conducted on July 2023.

The Tier 2 SSC CGL exam will be conducted on Aug/Sept 2023 (tentative).

SSC CGL Cut Off 2023

For every entrance or competitive exam, we need to have an idea regarding the cut-off marks of the particular exam, so that we can prepare and see our chances of cracking the exam. The same goes with the SSC CGL cut-off marks.

The SSC CGL cut-off marks are the minimum marks to qualify for the SSC CGL examination. Based on the number of candidates who appeared in the SSC CGL examination, exam difficulty, and the number of vacancies, the cut off marks is decided by the SSC after the result declaration.

For the 2023 SSC CGL exam also, the cut-off marks will be released, till then you can have a look at the previous year’s CGL exam cut-off marks details for reference. There is only a slight variation every year.

Since the SSC CGL examination will be conducted in two phases Tier I and Tier II, there will be two cut-off marks for each of these two exams.
