Tata Purple Cap in WPL: Following first season, the Women’s Premier League (WPL) 2nd edition kicked off on February 23, with five teams are participating for the WPL title. The WPL 2024 will run till 17 March.
The WPL cricket first match between defending champions Mumbai Indians vs Delhi Capitals took place at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru.
Similar to the Indian Premier League (IPL), the WPL also recognizes the player with the most wickets in the tournament by awarding them the Purple Cap. At the end of Women’s Premier League season, the Purple Cap, along with a cash prize, will be presented to the highest wicket-taker.
WPL Purple Cap Holder 2023: In the previous season, Hayley Matthews from Mumbai Indians (MI) was the winner of WPL Purple Cap 2023 with 16 wickets.

In the last edition, the Orange Cap and Purple Cap winner received a prize money of Rs. 5 lakhs, and it is expected that the amount will remain the same or possibly increase this year.
